After taking the Formula 1 championship at 23, could Lewis Hamilton's career reach any higher? It seems the answer is yes — now that he plans to take his family and girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger into space.

The star plans to take his loved ones to the stars on Richard Branson's highly exclusive Virgin Galactic airline.

With tickets costing £125,000 each, Lewis will be splashing out £625,000 on tickets for himself, Nicole, his father Anthony,
stepmother Linda and half-brother Nicholas.

A source said: “He is on the way to becoming the first billionaire sportsman, so what better way to spend his fortune? Lewis thinks it would be the perfect way to say thank you to Nicole and his family for their support throughout his triumphant year.”

Meanwhile, Richard's son Sam Branson is among the VIPs who hopes to be on the Virgin first space flight next year. But he has revealed that he had his doubts, saying: “I'm excited but bricking it at the same time. I doubt my dad would let me go unless it was completely safe.”

We're sure Sir Richard won't be best pleased with that ringing endorsement.
